Introducing, Live Music from Where We Travel

Cutter Boley

If you are one my social media followers, you know I love to see live music locally but also when I travel. Our group of UK Football fan couples decided to visit University of Texas Longhorns for their inaugural football game vs my University of Kentucky Wildcats. When we were planning this trip, and since it was in Austin, live music was at the forefront of my trip planning. We didn’t win the game but got to watch our hometown guy, Cutter Boley, start the second half. Boy was he impressive! Now if we can just get an O Line to protect him…Great things to come from this young man.

We were able to visit the small town of New Braunfels, Texas, where George Strait got his start at the world famous Gruene Hall. Gruene Hall was built in 1878 and is the oldest continually operating dance hall in Texas. They feature live music every night and, on the weekends, you never know who will be performing from a large list of well-known acts that has appeared there over the years. We were lucky enough to see Gruene Hall’s house band “The Georges“, a rockabilly band from Cental Texas and they had the crowd up on their feet. We loved getting to watch all of the patrons swing dance to wide array of music the band brought to the stage. The small town has several great restaurants and shops which prompted several of us to say it may warrant a return trip someday.

We also got to see live music at Hays City Store & Ice House in Driftwood, Texas. They have a great made from scratch restaurant and a beautiful outdoor eating area with live music. We were so exited to see Rochelle & the Sidewinders and they were amazing. What a voice!

You can find clips from our travels on the Musicwanderlust.com Live Music Where We Travel page. I’ll add more to this page as we travel in the future.

As always, there is still great live music here locally for you to enjoy this weekend! See the Musicwanderlust.com Calendar of Events page for more details.
