Kentucky is bustling with the sights and sounds of Derby week! Locals and people all over the world are celebrating Kentucky Derby 151 with their annual weeklong celebrations. Yesterday, we took our annual “Winsday” trip to Churchill Downs and it did not disappoint! The weather was perfect as the sun shined bright on My Old Kentucky Home. The horses were fast, and the food and drinks flowed. The women were dressed to the nines in their beautiful dresses and hats, while the sharp dressed men showed off in their sports coats and colorful ties. If you are ever in Kentucky for Derby week, make sure to take a trip to Churchill Downs to experience it for yourself. It is truly something to behold.
Derby week also brings many local celebrations, and live music abounds especially this weekend. Several local venues are hosting Derby Day festivities so, if you don’t have plans, you can watch the race and enjoy some great fun and drinks while watching the races there. Two of my favorites are Mammy’s Kitchen Old Stable Sports Bar and McIntyre & Family Winery.
