Retirement is often described as the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. For me, it’s not just a new chapter—it feels like a whole new book waiting to be written. After years of working as a banking compliance officer, I’m stepping away from the world of regulations and responsibilities to embrace a life filled with two of my greatest passions: live music and travel.
A Career in Compliance
For decades, my professional life was defined by structure, detail, and rules. As a compliance officer, my job was to ensure that my financial institution operated within the boundaries of law and regulation, safeguarding both clients and the bank. It was demanding work, requiring sharp focus, vigilance, and a strong sense of integrity.
I’m proud of what I accomplished during those years. I had the privilege of working with talented colleagues, navigating complex challenges, and being part of an industry that touches so many lives. But as I approached retirement, I began to ask myself a question that many do: What comes next?
Trading Regulations for Music
For as long as I can remember, music has been my escape, my joy, and my inspiration. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a live performance—the way a single song can unite thousands of strangers, or how an artist’s words can feel like they were written just for you.
Now that I have the freedom to choose how I spend my days, I’m leaning fully into that passion of being a music blogger. I want to capture the magic of concerts, festivals, and small shows. Most of all, I want to share the joy of live music with others who feel the same way. Writing about music feels like the perfect blend of creativity and connection—it allows me to relive the moments, while also helping others discover new sounds and experiences.
Exploring the World Through Travel
Alongside my love of music, travel has always held a special place in my heart. Every trip is a chance to explore new cultures, taste new foods, meet new people, and discover new perspectives. Travel reminds me that the world is both vast and deeply interconnected.
That’s why I’m also beginning a new venture as a travel advisor. Helping others plan meaningful journeys feels like a natural extension of my own curiosity. Whether it’s a romantic escape, a family adventure, or a music festival halfway across the world, I’m excited to design experiences that go beyond the typical vacation. Travel isn’t just about checking places off a list—it’s about creating memories and stories that last a lifetime.
A New Kind of Freedom
Leaving behind a structured career can feel daunting, but to me it feels liberating. This new phase of my life isn’t about slowing down—it’s about shifting gears. It’s about embracing the things that light me up and sharing them with others.
As a compliance officer, my days were filled with rules, policies, and the responsibility of keeping everything in line. Now, my days will be filled with rhythm, creativity, exploration, and connection. Instead of managing risks, I’m taking them. Instead of reviewing reports, I’m writing stories. Instead of guiding organizations, I’m guiding individuals toward experiences that enrich their lives.
Looking Ahead
This blog will be my space to share this journey. You’ll find reflections on live music—from the big festivals to the hidden gems—as well as travel stories, tips, and inspiration. I hope it becomes a place where others who love music, travel, or the adventure of new beginnings can find something meaningful.
To my colleagues and friends from my banking years: thank you for being part of the journey that got me here. And to everyone who is coming along with me in this new adventure: let’s see where the music plays and the road leads.
Retirement isn’t the end. It’s the encore.
